How do I stop website notifications in Safari on a Mac?

Published 21 September 2026

If you are seeing pop-up warnings or adverts from Safari, a website may have permission to send you notifications. You can check and remove this permission in Safari's settings.

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Click Safari in the menu bar at the top of the screen, then click Settings (called Preferences on older versions of macOS).
  3. Click the Websites tab.
  4. Click Notifications in the list on the left.
  5. For any website you don't recognise, select it and click Remove, or change it to Deny.

Once removed, that website can no longer send you notifications.
